The food is 'Oh so good Healthy!' My kids love going as they love the traditional Eritrean selections and the owner is so accommodating in giving us a spice level that children can handle. Owner has a welcoming attitude that provides a nice atmosphere to the restaurant. I didn't try the food, but offering Ethiopian/Eritrean did for a cafe is a great change from typical European-inspired cafe menus. I had a regular roast coffee and enjoyed it. Pricing is competitive with most cafes I've been to in the Edmonton area.One thing that I would make aware to fellow diners with lactose allergies: There was no option for dairy-free lattes. Also worth noting, food options to go are limited, as the cold display offerings are sparse.
Highly recommend! Limited choices: vegetarian, shrimp, chicken or beef dishes which is kind of nice! I had the beef dish with the amazing teff sourdough, rolled flatbread that's used to scoop up the meal with. It's delicious and has an almost spongy texture. So unique! The owner gifted me with a small bowl of chicken soup that was spicy with some heat but not overly so.You must try the Ethiopian coffee. I had the ginger infused coffee. Oh my! It was strong but not bitter. In usually take cream in my coffee. However, I loved it as it was, with a bit of raw sugar. Limited seating and cozy atmosphere. Do check it out!
My gf and ate there today , for the first time , it was absolutely amazing and delicious. We had the owner Solo help us choose, and eat the authentic Ethiopian dish, it was a meat dish and vegetable dish served with injera Bread , you kinda scoop up the food with the bread , Solo said to use our fingers and get messy get happy and boy did we ... well the happy part mostly again it was amazing, and we enjoyed Solos suggestions, help and hospitality.We most definitely add this place to our favourite list and let me tell you its near the topThanks SoloPatrick and Cindy See you soon
On Canada 2018 I had the absolute worst experience. I ordered a latte which cost me over 6 $. To start off it was room temperature, then when I took my first sip I could tell something was off.. I had other family members taste it and they to could tell something wasnt right... When I approached the counter and explained there was something wrong which my drink ... the man ( sadly enough I believe was the owner) started questioning if I even knew what a real latte tasted like .... then he proceeded to pull out a jug of milk and started pointing at the expiration date ... I looked at him yes I see the date which didnt change that the drink wasnt consumable... I asked for just regular coffee instead ( everyone knows a cup of coffee literally costs under a $ ) and he starts in a very loud voice telling me I will not get anything w/ o giving him more money?? I was shocked? Rather than provide an unhappy customer a cup of coffee he decided to be in my opinion pretty rude! I did make sure I let the entire group of people I was with about this experience...
